In the first quarter of 2015, the Coleman Foundation approved two grants totaling $768,000 dollars to non-profit organizations in support of the Foundation's Cancer Impact Plan. Those receiving awards were:
University of Chicago Medicine, Chicago, IL
$728,000 to support construction of a Supportive Oncology Care Suite, which will allow supportive oncology services to be housed and provided in one central location for the first time at University of Chicago Medicine. The newly designed space will be located in the outpatient care facility of the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) adjacent to the chemotherapy infusion treatment area.
College of American Pathologists Foundation, Northfield, IL
$40,000 for the organization's See, Test & Treat breast and cervical cancer screening program which provides one day of free testing, same-day test results and follow-up care to underserved women. The program would be held at Loyola University Medical Center in August, 2015 and serve 50 to 75 women while providing education to a larger population.
